About NestLoggic
NestLoggic is a one-person software company in Malvern, Worcestershire. It makes Magpie, nesting software for packaging and print, and nothing else.
Who
Philip Hubbard spent seven years in structural packaging design and industrial cutting. That meant ArtiosCAD in the design office, Kongsberg tables in the sample room, and the production floor where the layouts either worked or did not. Drawing print layouts by hand, checking grip and lay, counting sheets for a quote, and finding out at the guillotine when a cut had been dimensioned from the wrong edge.
Magpie is the tool he wanted then. It is built by one person, which shows in two ways: it does one job, and every rule in it comes from the floor rather than from a feature list.
What Magpie is for
Laying dielines onto sheets and handing back what the table and the guillotine need: a layered cutter file that cuts as drawn, a cut list with every dimension, and a report with the sheet count and the cost. It speaks the language of the job, sheet size, board grain, grip, gap, quantities per blank, cut and crease, and it never asks how it should nest.
Three modes cover the work a converting shop actually does: a print layout of one cutter repeated across guillotined pieces, a full sheet under one die, and a free nest for laser and router. The product page goes through each.
How it is run
- One plan, 49 pounds a month, and nesting is free without an account.
- Your files and layouts stay yours. They are stored to run the job and show it to you again, on a server in the European Union.
